Part Number: VZ-6
X-Motor Zebra
X-Motor Zebra

Many Techs have some confusion about X-Motors and Systems - and no wonder - with as many as 10 wires going to these new motors, using a voltmeter anymore for proper diagnosis is almost impossible.

"The prior generation of tools can help, but fall far short of giving the Tech complete information on why a system isn't operating correctly."

The VZ-6 is simple to operate; but don't let the simplicity fool you. At its heart are circuits and displays that take the guesswork out of "what's wrong?" when you're called to repair a malfunctioning X-Motor or ECM 142 Motor System. (Click HERE for a photo of an X-Motor and an ECM 142 Motor.) With it, you will be able to:
• Visually monitor all speed signal calls from the furnace/air handler circuit boards.
• Interrupt those signals - and send the speed calls you desire - to observe how it operates
• Get a 3-LED readout of the control voltage in the motor (OK, Questionable, or LOW)
• And finally, IF a problem is traced to the motor, a special "Winding Test" circuit analyzes the motor for shorts, opens, and frame shorts; advising you if the motor itself needs replacement, or if the Electronics Module is at fault (much less expensive, if one is separately available.)

GE, who makes a large share of these motors, reports that 41% of the motors returned to their factory actually have "no problem found". That means someone made an expensive mis-diagnosis; it also means the real problem has not been corrected by replacing the motor. Almost any mistake in diagnosis on an X-Motor System will cost you (or your customer) much more than this tool does!

Two DVDs are included; one that teaches Variable Speed System Theory, the second instructs the Tech how to use the VZ-6 to troubleshoot X-Motor systems.

Note: a similar tool - the VZ-7 "Variable Speed Zebra" is also available; use the chart below to help you select the tool you need:
