The are electronically commutated motors (ECM's) and typically save a significant amount of energy over their industry-standard counterparts. Occasionally a longer than usual cordset may be desired, or the original cordset may have failed or been damaged, requiring replacement. This harness terminates in a 8-pin plug, which mates with the standard 8-pin jack found on these types of motors.
